Introducing the newest member of our warren:

Snow Bunny!

So how did we get a third rabbit?  It was totally my fault.  Hunny Bunny and Ezio were getting along so well I decided to open up more of our flat to them.  So they chased me into the office and after spending all of TEN MINUTES in there they were engaging in fierce battles of biting and scratching and clawing.    Yes, rabbit fights can be vicious.    In a span of ten minutes they had become completely unbonded.   Over the next 2 months we tried everything we could think of to re-bond them.  So out of desperation we took them both back to Save-A-Bunny in Mill Valley.   Hunny and Ezio remained in Save-A-Bunny’s care and supervision for a week!

During that time we fostered an amazing rabbit named Monty. Here he is! Monty learned all the rules here by day two and totally made himself king of the castle!   As expected with male rabbits, he was friendly, jovial, and rather easy to deal with.   And this is one of the smartest rabbits I have ever met.    After a week we took him back to Save-A-Bunny and traded him back for our rabbits.   We wish we could have kept him, but his ego and personality would most likely have led to him and Ezio fighting for dominance over the warren.    If anyone is interested in adopting Monty, please contact Save-A Bunny in Mill Valley, CA.  Here is Monty’s profile page:  http://www.saveabunny.org/rabbit/monty

Back to Snow Bunny

Marcie at Save-A-Bunny let us know that she had successfully re-bonded our bunnies but in order to do it had to introduce a third rabbit.   Apparently Snow came from an animal-hoarding situation in Sonoma with at least FORTY other rabbits.  For the most part Snow is very sweet but gets very aggressive when food is being given out.  During summer “hormone-fest”  she’s been fighting with Hunny.  Luckily nothing too bad.  This week though she is calming down.  Snow seems to have calmed down a bit and will even hop on my back when i’m playing with them on the floor.

Hunny and Snow have an odd relationship.  They seem to genuinely like each other, but Snow suddenly wants to be the doe in charge. First of all Hunny was here first.  Perhaps more important, is that Kristen is the Queen of this warren!    Hunny seems to have strained muscles in her left hind-leg and is a little wobbly this week.  She will see her doctor soon and hopefully this isn’t anything to worry about.

Stay tuned for more tales of rabbitry!
